Noise Mitigation Deployment System

We designed and delivered a Noise Mitigation Deployment System (NMDS) to ensure environmental compliance during monopile installations in German waters.

Scope

During the installation of offshore wind foundations, Seaway 7 needed to comply with strict offshore noise mitigation regulations. To achieve this, they required an efficient and reliable way to deploy a Hydro Sound Damper (HSD) net, which ensured environmental compliance without slowing down operations.

Challenge

The existing offshore noise reduction methods were too time-consuming, complex and difficult to integrate with the vessel’s existing equipment. That is why Seaway 7 turned to us to develop a Noise Mitigation Deployment System that could:

• Work seamlessly with the vessel’s monopile gripper

• Allow the heavy HSD net to be folded into the basket and lowered using 18 winches

• Operate efficiently in harsh offshore environments

Solution

We designed and delivered a custom system – a fully integrated engineering solution for fast and safe Hydro Sound Damper deployment.

• A robust deployment basket for the HSD net

• Eight winch skids for smooth and accurate positioning

• Fully automated hydraulic and control systems synchronized with the monopile gripper
