Seafastening Solutions

We delivered several seafastening solutions for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project.

Scope

For the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project, we were contracted to deliver several custom seafastening systems. The goal: ensure the safe and stable transport of multiple heavy tools and equipment used during offshore installation. Working with the Scylla – Cadeler’s offshore installation vessel, chartered by Van Oord, we engineered tailored seafastening solutions to guarantee stability, safety and efficiency throughout transport and installation.

Challenge

Offshore transport involves extreme conditions such as high waves, vibration, and limited deck space.
The challenge was to secure a wide variety of tools including Cronos containers, grout systems and a jacket lift tool. Each with unique shapes, weights and handling requirements. Standard solutions could not provide the reliability or precision needed to protect valuable offshore equipment during transport.

Solution

We designed and fabricated a complete set of bespoke offshore seafastening systems, each customized for the specific equipment used in the Saint-Brieuc project.

  • Transport skids for Cronos containers: designed for stable transport of grout systems over rough seas

  • LARS Seafastening (Launch & Recovery System): with a dedicated transport frame to secure subsea equipment

  • Grout silo seafastening: ensuring stability and preventing movement during heavy sea transport

  • Jacket lift tool seafastening: a robust structure providing maximum stability during offshore lifting operations

Benefits

  • Tailor-made for each tool – ensures a perfect fit and maximum safety for every piece of equipment

  • Durable and weatherproof design – built to perform under harsh offshore conditions

  • Improved operational efficiency – equipment arrived ready for immediate use, reducing installation time

  • Enhanced safety and reliability – minimized risk of movement or damage during offshore transport
